- 6-7 onions, cut into quarter moons
- 1 stick butter
- 1/2 cup olive oil
- 1 can chicken broth
- 3 garlic cloves, finely chopped
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- Balsamic vinegar to taste
- Worcestershire sauce to taste
- Soy sauce to taste
- 64 oz beef broth
- 2-3 bay leaves
- 1 baguette loaf, sliced
- Gruyère or Swiss cheese
- Salt to taste
