  • 6-7 onions, cut into quarter moons
  • 1 stick butter
  • 1/2 cup olive oil
  • 1 can chicken broth
  • 3 garlic cloves, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • Balsamic vinegar to taste
  • Worcestershire sauce to taste
  • Soy sauce to taste
  • 64 oz beef broth
  • 2-3 bay leaves
  • 1 baguette loaf, sliced
  • Gruyère or Swiss cheese
  • Salt to taste

    In a covered Dutch oven, sweat onions with butter and olive oil over medium-low heat, stirring occasionally
